Rocket Software has bought Israeli startup Geniez AI in a deal valued at up to $100 million based on industry estimates. The acquisition hands the Boston-area enterprise firm specialized tools that link autonomous agents and large language models straight to live mainframe systems without requiring users to move sensitive data to outside servers.
Geniez AI operates with a six-person staff and was founded only a year ago by Chief Executive Officer Gil Peleg and Dan Shprung. The co-founders previously served in the Israel Defense Forces Mamram computing unit and built Model9, a mainframe data firm that BMC Software bought in 2023. Rocket offered to buy the startup shortly after Geniez AI met its opening funding goals.
The startup designed its software to help companies run automated workflows, track live operations, and troubleshoot system incidents using natural language instructions. The program works alongside common developer tools and standard mainframe subsystems, while keeping existing company security rules and permissions intact.
All engineering staff and technical leaders from Geniez AI will move to Rocket, which is backed by Bain Capital Private Equity and serves thousands of customers worldwide. Rocket plans to fold the acquired software into Rocket EVA, an agentic AI system made for core business platforms. Management aims to use the combined technology to ease ongoing shortages of mainframe specialists and help clients modernize legacy infrastructure without overhauling existing systems.
