Kiteworks announced on September 8 that it had acquired Bonfy.AI, an Israeli-founded data security startup. The companies did not disclose the purchase price.
Bonfy's technology examines sensitive information as people and AI agents send or use it through email, file sharing, business applications and other systems. Kiteworks says the software considers the sender, recipient and context of an exchange before applying an organization's policies.
The buyer plans to incorporate those capabilities into its platform for controlling data transfers. It says Bonfy.AI will remain available as a separate product during the integration. The deal adds technology for checking information during an exchange to Kiteworks' existing tools for secure communication and governance. Financial estimates in subsequent media reports were not confirmed by the companies.
