The Israel Innovation Authority and C4IR Israel published a report on September 17 examining how technology can help regions affected by desertification. It focuses on connecting water, agriculture, data, soil restoration and energy solutions so they can move beyond individual pilot projects.
Using Israel and the Negev as a reference, the report maps approximately 100 Israeli companies working in relevant data, sensing, AI and decision-support fields. The authority describes that exercise as an indication of activity, rather than a complete census of the market.
The report argues for testing integrated solutions under real operating conditions and strengthening cooperation between researchers, industry and public bodies. It is a research and policy publication; the announcement does not establish a new grant allocation.
