FIMI is moving forward with an investment in MMD Smart, an Israeli communications technology company. The reported $55 million deal would give the fund a 55% holding, according to September 24 reports by CTech and Globes.

Most of the money would go into the business, with a smaller portion going to its founders. So the transaction would do two things at once: change control of the company and provide capital for expansion. It is not simply a sale of existing shares.

CTech traces MMD's business back to 2008 and names Arie Frenklakh, its chief executive, and Leonid Rubanov as the owners. The company operates from Petah Tikva, Bulgaria and Singapore. It sells to customers ranging from telecom operators to app developers and contact centers, handling communications that cross national borders and different networks.

MessageWhiz provides a concrete example of what MMD sells. MMD's product material lists SMS and email alongside WhatsApp, RCS, Viber, Telegram and voice as channels available through the platform. A business can send a notification or campaign, then deal with replies in the same system rather than moving conversations between separate applications.

According to MMD, the platform supports account verification, customer service and automated responses. Customers can use its interface or connect other software through an API. A delivery update sent by a retailer and a response from its support team can therefore pass through the same communications system, even though they serve different purposes.

The company also markets Call Center Connect for inbound and outbound voice operations. It includes routing tools and dashboards for supervisors. These are descriptions from MMD's own product material, not an independent assessment of call quality or performance.

The investment is intended to support expansion into additional countries and further product development. FIMI is buying into an established communications operation, with growth capital forming an important part of the reported arrangement. The available reports do not confirm a completed closing. The $55 million is the reported investment for control, not a purchase price for all of MMD Smart.
